KUALA LUMPUR:Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has again reiterated that he had the support of a majority of members of Parliament (MPs) to form a new government.

However, he said, he is now just waiting for the courtesy and discretion of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah for him to submit further information to His Majesty.

“But what is clear now and undeniable is the number so far that rejects the views of the Perikatan Nasional (PN), big issues such as emergencies and the suspension of Parliament are rejected by the majority of MPs.

“Now for GPS Sarawak, they are also in a discussion, I do not know what the decision is.

"Of course, if this (majority that rejects PN's decision) happens, those (MPs) who are committed to supporting the emergency and the suspension of Parliament, the number may be short of 90 MPs or maybe less," he said.

He said this in a live broadcast of the National Professors’ Mind Program - Bicara Negarawan Series-3 which was posted on the official Facebook page of the National Professors Council on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Anwar did not reject rumours claiming that he was cooperating with UMNO.

“Now we have reached the point where we have the ability. After looking at the weaknesses and uncertainties of policies and groups in PN, we gather the strength of the opposition and some elements in the government including UMNO.

"They feel this country should be saved. If you want to think of old animosity, that has no end. I can raise a statement, this is not calming and I throw a counter statement.

"But the current situation demands that we do something to save the country with clear policies," he said.
