KUALA LUMPUR:PAS has called on all political parties that have been entrusted to form the Perikatan Nasional (PN) to provide support to the leadership of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for the government to function effectively.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said Cabinet members comprising a coalition of parties were also called upon to act collectively and focus on the well-being of the people.

"Cabinet members comprising the BN, PN, GPS, PAS and GRS must act collectively and responsibly by giving priority and focus on the well-being of the people, especially in difficult times where all parties work hard to address the recurrence of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as measures to revitalise the country's severely affected economy," he said in a statement on Thursday.

The statement was issued after the Yang di-Pertuan Agong granted an audience to Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Tuesday after he claimed to have a majority to form a new government.

Commenting further, PAS is confident that His Majesty has acted based on all the prerogative and discretionary powers as provided by the Constitution and the laws of the country on the concept of a Constitutional King.

"PAS expresses its deepest gratitude to His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for his wisdom and wise measures in resolving any crisis, including politics, that has led to peace, harmony and stability in the country," said Takiyuddin.
