KUALA LUMPUR:The Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in Kampung Numbak and the Telipok settlement in Kota Kinabalu, which is scheduled to end on Sunday, will be extended for another 14 days until December 13.

Senior Minister of Defence, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said this decision was made on the advice and risk assessment conducted by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH).

"Apart from the high number of active cases, there are many more residents in these two localities who need to undergo screening tests," he said in a statement here, on Sunday.

Previously, EMCO in Kampung Numbak and the Telipok settlement was implemented from November 16.

Both localities are densely populated with approximately 21,000 residents with a total population distribution in the Telipok settlement of about 15,000, while in Kampung Numbak a total of 5,700.
