KUALA LUMPUR:Despite being labelled as Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu)-friendly and a spokesman for the Perikatan Nasional (PN), Tan Sri Annuar Musa has vowed to remain with UMNO because he believes what he has done so far is his party's decision.

In a special interview with Mingguan Malaysia newspaper today, the former UMNO and Barisan Nasional secretary-general said that those who deliberately made the accusation against him had their own personal agenda.

He further explained that the people he meant had the intention of doing something different from what UMNO had already decided through its Supreme Working Council (MKT).

"I became an obstacle because I stayed with the party's decision. I have been instructed by the president (Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) to follow up on actions in line with the party's decision, namely no DAP, no Anwar. It was not me who decided.

“Another thing the party decided was to support (Prime Minister) Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and support PN, as well as support the government. I did all that.

“The problem is that a few people who bring new ideas, which have never been approved by the party all this time, including wanting to support (Datuk Seri) Anwar Ibrahim,” he explained.

The Ketereh Member of Parliament who is also the Federal Territories Minister claimed that the effort to find support among UMNO leaders towards the Opposition Leader was because the party concerned was close friends with Anwar.

According to Annuar, that should not have happened as he has been accused of various negative perceptions while what he was doing was merely defending the party's decision.

“Where is it that I was said to look like Bersatu? Except for one thing that is Bersatu with UMNO do not split. Not that I want to join Bersatu, but I want UMNO to be strong.

"My belief is UMNO, Bersatu and PAS are the core in uniting the Malays and I'm sure these three parties if able to work together, we will win big in the next General Election (GE)," Annuar added.
