KUALA LUMPUR: The number of COVID-19 cases increased slightly with 3,198 from 3,175 yesterday, bringing the cumulative figure to 2,795,233.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the total cases today, only 39 or 1.2 per cent were in categories three, four and five, while 3,159 cases (98.8 per cent) were in categories one and two.

"There are 215 cases in the intensive care unit with 105 requiring ventilator support," he said in his daily statement on the COVID-19 situation today.

A total of 3,200 recoveries were recorded, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries to 2,723,599.

Dr Noor Hisham said eight new clusters were detected, bringing the number of active clusters to 179.

On the infectivity rate, he said the Rt value for the country stood at 1.00 yesterday, with Labuan recording the highest value at 1.12, followed by Kuala Lumpur (1.08) Putrajaya (1.08), Sabah (1.07), Melaka (1.05) and Negeri Sembilan (1.04).

Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham said a total of 13 infectious disease cases were detected among flood victims today, 12 of them were acute respiratory infection (ARI) cases and one acute gastroenteritis (AGE).
