The remains of a newborn, with his umbilical cord still attached, was found in the toilet of a stall near Pantai Tanjung Asam in Teluk Kumbar, here this morning.

The body of the infant boy was discovered by a woman, who was at the location for a camping activity, around 9.30am.

Stall owner, Shara Effa Che Omar said she was shocked when she was informed about the discovery.

According to Shara, it was the first time such occurrence had happened in the area.

“I received a call this morning about the discovery but we have cleaned the toilet before we left at around 12 midnight.

“After we have completed our work, we left, but this morning we could not open the toilet as there was the remains of the new born,” she told Astro AWANI here today.

According to Shara Effa, the toilet at her stall had never been locked as it is being used by anglers.

The remains had been brought to Balik Pulau Hospital for post-mortem.

Southwest District police chief, Superintendent Anuar Omar confirmed the discovery and seek for the public with information to assist police investigation.
