Sixteen Muslim men were among 24 individuals arrested in an operation against online gambling dubbed 'Ops Dadu' at six premises here on last Thursday and Saturday.

Police also seized cash of RM1,219.00 and 79 units of computer during the operation.

Labuan police chief Supt Adzhar Othman said the operation would be continued from time to time in a bid to combat online gambling.

"Labuan police will give priority to efforts to combat online gambling and information from the public is very much needed to prevent online gambling from becoming rampant," he said.

Adzhar also said that the police would also forge cooperation with the local authorities and with Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) to cut the power supply to the premises involved.

The case is being investigated under Section 4B (a) of the Open Gaming House Act 1953.
