About 100 people gathered near the Sultan Suleiman Royal Mosque here this evening to express their anger and unhappiness against PKR and DAP which they claimed had been rude to the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

The people began to assemble at about 5pm and dispersed an hour later.

One of them, Mohd Khusyairi Abdul Aziz, said the actions of PKR and DAP went against the principles of the Rukun Negara and were deemed to have been disrespectful of the sovereignty and position of the Malay rulers.

"My friends and I from NGOs such as Waris Malaya, the Kampung Jawa Residents Association, the Kampung Raja 4B Youth Movement and others condemn the action of PKR and DAP," he told reporters.

The sultan's private secretary, Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani, had said that PKR and DAP had defied a decree of the sultan for the parties to submit more than two nominees to him for consideration as the next menteri besar.

Kampung Raja 4B Youth Movement representative Safuwan Azeem said the 36 members of the organisation who gathered here wanted only a candidate who had the sultan's blessings to be appointed the new menteri besar.

On Aug 27, the sultan had decreed that the Pakatan Rakyat parties of DAP, PKR and PAS submit more than two names for consideration for the post of the next menteri besar of the state.

The issue of the Selangor menteri besar cropped up after PKR and Pakatan Rakyat decided that Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim step down as the menteri besar for PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to take over the post.

Abdul Khalid refused to resign and PKR sacked him from the party.

The sultan has asked Abdul Khalid to stay on as the menteri besar pending the appointment of the new chief executive of the state.
