INDIAN film phenomenon Rajnikanth was set to shoot a healthy portion of his latest film Kabali in Malaysia. Recently, reports of delays and changes in plans have cropped up. The Kabali team will still most probably be dropping by, but their time here has been slashed in half.

According to the International Business Times in September, the film will now only be shot on our shores within a month. Instead, a set "resembling few portions in Malaysia" was being built. This was later confirmed by the Indian Express, which revealed that 'Kabali' will be made in Malaysia from Oct 19 to Nov 19, while the rest of the film will be shot in Adityaram Studios and EVP World, Chennai.

YSCFN reports that the original schedule required for three months of filming time in Malaysia, hinting that the security risks and rules that accompany filming in a foreign country was the deciding factor.

Last Wednesday, however, Indiaglitz mentioned that a new set is being constructed in Chennai for the film shoot over there, further delaying the Malaysian leg of Kabali's filming process.

Kabali

Kabali marks Rajnikanth's 159th film. In the film, he plays the character of a don, said to be based on a real life figure. For the film, he opted to utilise much of the same team behind critically-acclaimed Tamil film 'Madras'. This includes director Pa Ranjith, several cast members and also technical crew.

Also noted in the New Indian Express is the fact that Kabali's team is composed of younger talent. Prior to the film, Rajnikanth mostly worked with more established directors.

Filming began in September at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Chennai. Kabali is expected to be release in April next year.
