Reports from the Los Angeles Times suggest that the production team of the western starring Natalie Portman is considering Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire or Jeff Bridges as potential replacements for Jude Law.

The three actors are apparently being wooed to take up the part the British actor abandoned this past week after director Lynne Ramsay pulled out of the project and didn't turn up for filming in Santa Fe.

According to the Californian newspaper, the production team is seeking an internationally known actor who can convincingly don a cowboy hat and play an outlaw.

The three men have each played different types of cowboys in movies. Jeff Bridges played one of the lead characters in the Coen Brothers' "True Grit". Jake Gyllenhaal starred in "Brokeback Mountain" and Tobey Maguire was in "Ride with the Devil." They both starred with Natalie Portman in the movie "Brothers" in 2009.

A decision will be made soon so that new director Gavin O'Connor can start filming.
