Equipment problem denied Yuhaizam Yahya from advancing to the next stage of the individual compound event in Rio Paralympic Games.

Yuhaizam, who beat Nori Hadi of Iran in the fourth set 28-27, exited after he lost in the final set, 18-28, handing a 136-126 win to his opponent.

"I am disappointed with my first outing and will learn to focus more. My time was good and I will bring this to the Asean Para Games in Kuala Lumpur next year," he said in the National Sports Council Facebook page.

Yuhaizam performed brilliantly to win the first set 26-25, before drawing 28-28 in the second set.

The archer lost 26-28 in the third set but bounced back to win the fourth set 28-27, to set up the final set. -- Bernama
