The distance of Stage 10 for this year's Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) race from Tasik Kenyir to Kuala Terengganu (KT) on March 8 has been reduced due of construction work and road diversions in KT.

LTdL chief operating officer Emir Abdul Jalal said the existing distance of 114.7km was now reduced by 8.1km.

This also brings down the overall distance from 1,507.6km to 1,495.9km.

"We are making the reduction to accomodate traffic flow in Kuala Terengganu. In fact, I think the loop in Kuala Terengganu will be more exciting for the cyclists because there will be a quicker finish," he told reporters after
receiving mineral water sponsorship for the LTdL from Darulkhusus Venture Sdn Bhd, here on Friday.

LTdL 2014 involves 10 stages, starting in Langkawi and passing through Perak, Kuala Lumpur, Genting Highlands, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Pahang before finishing in Kuala Terengganu.

In KUALA TERENGGANU, 120 cylists from Terengganu joined an expedition to promote the LtDL throughout the seven districts in the state.

Their chief coordinator Zainuddin Idris said the programme was being held to ensure the LtDL was a big hit in the state.
