Malaysia's mission to book a ticket to the 2014 World Cup dimmed when they were thrashed 6-0 by Germany in the semi-final of the World Hockey League Championship at Taman Daya Hockey Stadium,
tonight.

The squad under head coach Paul Revingthon was outplayed by the Germans who were ranked number one in the world.

The Malaysian team who was in third position of Group B failed to reach to the top three of the championship and had to work harder to win the Asian Cup Hockey Championship in Ipoh in August if they want to see action in the Hague next year.

Malaysia was attacked from the first whistle by the Germans with the first goal coming in the 5th minute from a penalty corner taken by Christhopher Zeller.

Three minutes later, the Malaysian goal was breached again by Linus Butt for the second goal while two more goals came in quick succession two minutes apart by Moritz Polk (10') and Christhopher Zeller (12').

Despite being cheered by more than 3,000 supporters who flooded the stadium, everything went wrong.
Two more goals came in the 16th and 18th minute through Moritz Furste and Thilo Stralkowski.

Malaysia had their best chance at goal at the last minute through a penalty corner but the German defence refuse to yield.

In the second half, the national team was more focus but the scoreline remained unchanged until the final whistle.
