The Football Association of Selangor (FAS) will undergo a major revamp to ensure the association is led by competent and reliable individuals who can bring back the team to glory.
FAS President Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said he thanked the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah for the latter's advice while giving his assurance that he will take necessary action to ensure that the glory of Selangor football will be safeguarded and taken to even greater heights.
"I take full cognizance of the suggestion that I, as the FAS President, should introduce a new line-up that is independent of politics, based on merit, fresh, full of energy and capable of achieving results," he was quoted as saying in the statement issued Saturday.
"Indeed, just to reiterate the point, what is at stake is also the track record and the illustrious history of the Red Giants squad that must not be sacrificed because of the selfish actions of a few irresponsible people," added Mohamed Azmin who is also Selangor Menteri Besar.
On the question of state funding, he said FAS must have a comprehensive sports marketing approach to enable the association to earn a sustainable income for the future without depending on funds from the state government anymore.
