The winding up session for the 2016 UMNO General Assembly will return to its tradition whereby the winding up speech will be performed by the top party leaderships.

UMNO Information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the matter was decided by party president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at the Supreme Council (MT) meeting last night.

"We will go back to traditon this year, the MT members concerned will be given the opportunity, President (Najib) had informed just now," said Annuar when met by reporters after attending the meeting.

Traditionally, the winding up speech, among others, were performed by the wings' heads, representatives of the MT, government representatives, Vice-President, deputy president and party President.

Last year, only the party President wound up the debates and made the adjournment speech.

Vice-President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who performs the duties of deputy president, explained that the meeting tonight was a regular meeting held a day before the general assembly on Thursday.

Another Vice-President Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said, the MT meeting had also discussed the motions that would guide the spokespersons during the assembly.

"Alhamdulillah we have received all the motions that have been gathered before this," said Hishammuddin, who is also the UMNO General Assembly's Motion Preparation Committee Chairman.
