IPOH:There were smiles on their faces but three Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders did not say much about their audience with Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah today on the issue of Perak Menteri Besar.

The three - Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming, Perak Amanah chairman Datuk Asmuni Awi and Perak PKR chairman Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak - were summoned by Sultan Nazrin to Istana Kinta here.

They told reporters gathered outside Istana Kinta that they updated Sultan Nazrin on their stands on the matter.

Farhash Wafa said they couldn't comment much on the meeting as the situation was very fluid, while Nga said they would pray for the best.

When asked by reporters, they said PH did not submit any candidate for the post of Menteri Besar.

They declined to answer when asked whether PH supported UMNO's candidate for the post.

Nga, in a statement this morning, said DAP had decided to cooperate with UMNO in Perak to form a multi-racial government which is clean, strong and solid.

UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, speaking to the media after presenting UMNO's candidate to Sultan Nazrin, reiterated that cooperation in the Perikatan Nasional government comprising UMNO, Bersatu and PAS in Perak would continue.

The Menteri Besar's post became vacant following Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu's resignation last Saturday after he lost the majority support of assemblymen in a confidence vote at the State Legislative Assembly on Friday.

He secured only 10 votes while 48 voted against him and one abstained.

The Perak State Assembly has 25 assemblymen from Barisan Nasional, five from Bersatu including Ahmad Faizal, three from PAS, 16 from DAP, three from PKR, five from Amanah, and one each from Gerakan and Independent.
