Selangor PAS today announced the sacking of several members from the party who were found to be involved in a movement known as Gerakan Harapan Baru (New Hope Movement).

Selangor PAS secretary Mohd Khairuddin Othman said the termination of their membership was in accordance with Article 13(1)(c) of PAS' Constitution.

"PAS Selangor has taken note of the establishment of a new political party, of which most committee members consist of our former committee members in Selangor. We respect their decision, and this also effectively terminates their membership," he said in a statement here today.

Mohd Khairuddin said all the positions held by the former members would immediately be filled by other party leaders in accordance with the rules of the constitution.

Among those said to be present at the launch of the movement today were Shah Alam Member of Parliament Khalid Abdul Samad, former Kuala Selangor Member of Parliament Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, Member of Parliament for Kota Raja, Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud, and former Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib.
