Selangor UMNO Liaison chairman Datuk Seri Noh Omar will hold a meeting with Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak over criticisms by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad regarding the party machinery.

Noh said the meeting was necessary to seek the UMNO president's advice in overcoming weaknesses besides making efforts to improve the party.

"It's not an easy task to become UMNO chairman, this is not a glamorous job...the (Selangor) menteri besar's post, that is a glamorous position.

"For the moment, I have not had the opportunity to meet with (prime minister) Datuk Seri Najib, maybe later a meeting will be held with him to seek his advice on what needs to be done to improve Selangor UMNO," he told reporters after opening the leadership colloquium 2014 at the Management and Science University, in Shah Alam, Wednesday.

Noh said this when asked to comment on Dr Mahathir's criticism at a media conference Tuesday on the Selangor UMNO leadership which was perceived to have failed in discharging their responsibility.

Dr Mahathir had earlier criticised the Selangor UMNO leadership lineup which he said should step down after the defeat in the 12th general election and 13th general election.

"On this matter, Datuk Seri Najib will be making the decision whether the Selangor UMNO leadership should be dissolved or otherwise. It was he who appointed me, so he will decide on it," he added.
