The Masjid Tanah UMNO division on Sunday unanimously passed a motion for the post of party president and deputy president to not be contested at the coming party election.

Its leader Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, who is also UMNO executive-secretary, said the division also passed a motion of support for party president and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, and also UMNO vice-president and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also performing the duties of UMNO deputy president.

He said both the motions received the unanimous support of all the 64 branches in the division.

"We also request the Public Service Department to not compromise on the condition for a pass in Bahasa Malaysia for candidates applying for government posts," he said when closing the division's delegates conference here Sunday.

The conference, which was opened by Najib and also attended by Ahmad Zahid and Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron, was attended by about 5,000 delegates.

Meanwhile, the Bukit Katil UMNO delegates conference, also passed a motion of support for the two top leadership in the party, Najib and Ahmad Zahid.

The Bukit Katil UMNO delegates conference was also opened by Najib. The division is led by Tan Sri Mohd Ali Rustam.
