MIC members at the branch level are given the chance to re-register as members from Sept 1 to 7 at the party's headquarters in Kuala Lumpur before their membership expires.

MIC president, Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said the decision was made following requests from many MIC members who wished to join the party back.

"We give an opportunity to the branches wishing to reactivate their position which expires in September," he told reporters after chairing a meeting of the party's Central Working Committee (CWC) at its headquarters Wednesday.

"This effort is made to give an opportunity to those who wish to be active again so that they can contribute to the party's activities and struggles," he said.

He said the MIC would hold nominations of candidates for election at the branch levels for two days beginning Sept 17, which would be followed by the state-level annual general meeting from Sept 24 to 25.
