Sabah UMNO Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Seri Musa Aman today reminded party leaders at the division level to increase their meetings with the public so as to explain the government's development policies.
Musa, who is also Sabah Chief Minister, said all leaders, including those at the grassroots level, must be more proactive in providing information and understanding for all the government's efforts to help the people so that they were not easily influenced by the opposition.
"We know that the opposition parties in Sabah have started going to the villages to meet the people and spread their lies.
"However, we should provide the people with explanations and information on what the government has done so far. The government has proof that it always understands the wishes of the people and wants to help them," he said.
He was speaking to reporters after chairing the first meeting of the committee this year at the state UMNO Liaison Headquarters here today.
Musa said the government had introduced many policies which were obviously meant to lighten the burden of the people and bring them prosperity, such as the 1Malaysia People's Aid which was the brainchild of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
At the same time,, Musa also urged UMNO leaders to carry out their duties and responsibilities as usual including meeting the people and providing the best service to the people regardless of time.
"We do not know when the general election will be held. As such, we have to keep on working," he said.
Musa said the machinery was always prepared to face the general election at any time. - BERNAMA
