KUALA LUMPUR: UMNO veteran leader Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah received a visit from UMNO president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and the party's former president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at his residence here yesterday.

"Received a visit from Datuk Seri @DrZahidHamidi and Datuk Seri @NajibRazak," he said in a tweet shared on his Twitter account at 9.27pm on Wednesday.

In August last year, the chairman of the UMNO Advisory Council had issued a shocking statement, asking UMNO leaders in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government's Cabinet to resign from their respective posts immediately.

He made the call following the announcement of the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) to accept non-Malays as members.

Tengku Razaleigh, who is also Gua Musang MP, said the announcement of Bersatu by itself disqualified the party as a member of the Alliance of Malay Muslims backed by Muafakat Nasional.

In fact, Tengku Razaleigh or better known as Ku Li had previously gone against party discipline when he held a press conference with former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

In the press conference, he and Dr Mahathir expressed their readiness to serve the country without any salary if required.
