The firm stand taken by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang in refusing to join Pakatan Rakyat (PR 2.0) is the right and smart decision.

Central PAS Information chief, Nasrudin Hassan said the stand provided a clear picture that PAS has its own objective in ensuring the party’s future.

“PAS is not interested in joining PR 2.0 which is yet to be established and efforts to make it happen remain vague although the 14th General Election is nearing.

“The original version of PR is still strong. It only needs to be strengthened to be more effective,” said Nasrudin in a statement here today.

He stressed that the party’s commitment remains with PR.

On Sunday, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) President, Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said that the party was open and wanted all quarters including PAS in its new opposition block which will be formed.

According to her, the door still remains open for PAS although it had rejected PKR’s offer to join in a roundtable meeting.

It was earlier reported that PAS will not join in the roundtable meeting organised by PKR as it was still not prepared.

The meeting organised by PKR to discuss the formation of PR 2.0 is scheduled to take place on Tuesday.
