A civil servant lost about RM209,000 after being deceived by a foreign man whom she met on social networking site Facebook.

The victim, a 50-year-old single mother had mortgaged her house and handed over the money to the man.

She lodged a report at the Kuala Terengganu police headquarters today.

State Commercial CID chief, Supt Khoh Ah Tiam said the foreigner had earlier hoodwinked the woman into believing that he was a contractor and that he wanted to transfer US$10 million (RM31 million) to this country.

Meanwhile, a student of a public higher education institution lodged a police report after receiving a small package bundled as a corpse and placed in his motorcycle basket yesterday.

The 21-year-old, who was in a student representative council, also received a short note warning him to withdraw his candidacy.

State CID chief ACP K. Manoharan said the case was being investigated for criminal intimidation.
