Water concessionaire Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) said water supply in Sabak Bernam would be disrupted on Monday (Oct 21) from 9 pm until 5 pm the following day (Oct 22).

Its assistant general manager (Corporate Communication and Public Affairs) Priscilla Alfred said the temporary water shutdown which would affect 29,247 consumers was necessary to allow Syabas to repair a leaking pipe channeling treated water from the Bernam River Headworks water treatment plant to the area.

In a statement Saturday, she said the locations involved are Kampung Parit 13 to 17, Belia 1 and Belia 2, Bagan Terap, Taman Padu Permai, Taman Nirwana, Taman Berkat, Kampung Nelayan, Parit 2 to Parit 6 Barat, Kampung Sekendi, Jalan Taman Pusara, Taman Gemilang, Jalan Raja Chulan and Kampung Naidu.

Other affected areas are the hospital quarters, National Accounting Institute, Jalan Berjaya, Batu 40, Kampung Dato' Hormat, and Teluk Rhu to the National Integration Secondary School.

As a contingency measure three lorry tankers and five static tanks would be placed on standby while consumers are advised to store sufficient water for their needs and to avoid wastage.

Consumers can contact Syabas' customer service centre (Puspel) at its toll-free number, 1-800-88-5252 for further information.
