KUALA LUMPUR:Veteran comedian, Datuk Jamali Shadat, 78, breathed his last at 8:30 this morning.

According to Harian Metro, the news was confirmed by his grandson Isyraq Ariff Zalull Ariff.

Isyraq said his grandfather's departure was discovered by his uncle this morning.

He said doctors confirmed that his grandfather had died and that the funeral process would be announced later.

But citing a report in Gempak, Isyraq said the deceased was likely to be buried at the Islamic Cemetery, Pulau Indah, Klang.

The late Jamali was born in Bukit Kapar, Klang, Selangor and has eight children and 39 grandchildren.

The popular comedian comedian was quite famous in the 1980s, with his ability to carry a child character named 'Atan'.
