PUTRAJAYA: The National Centre for Defence Studies (PuspaHanas) should be made a national centre of excellence that focuses on national sovereignty and security issues, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

This was because the issue of national sovereignty and security cannot be taken lightly, he said.

"It is important that PuspaHanas graduates cultivate the security mindset in addition to improving the culture of work productivity.

"Therefore, I would like to see PuspaHanas become the first choice for security studies among the public and private sector andforeign nationals," he said.

He said this at a media conference after attending the 2022 graduation ceremony of the National Resilience College (NRC), Malaysian Armed Forces Defence College (MAFDC) and Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College (MAFSC) at PuspaHanas here today.

Mohamad also said that issues of sovereignty and security are important in attracting foreign investors to strengthen the country's economy.

"Foreign investors are always observing our country's security level and will not invest if the country is not stable.

"They will not invest at all if they find that a country is facing security conflicts," he said.

A total of 265 graduates, including 40 foreign nationals, received their scrolls at the ceremony today.
