KUALA LUMPUR: Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) has allocated a total of RM 1.6 million in contributions to help those affected by the floods nationwide, says TH Group chief executive officer Datuk Sri Amrin Awaluddin.

He said in a statement that TH provided financial assistance, as well as food and cleaning services voluntarily to Malaysians affected by the floods, and the aid would be distributed directly or through strategic partners and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

"We are also working with the supervision of Ministers in the Prime Minister's Department such as the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) through a group of volunteers by providing contributions such as basic necessities, food supply, and temporary accommodation," he said today.

The statement also informed that TH subsidiary Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (BIMB) had contributed RM420,000, apart from launching the 'Bantuan Prihatin Banjir' assistance with financing repayment facilities for affected individuals.

Takaful Malaysia, another subsidiary of TH, also offered free towing services to customers affected by the floods, it added.
