Six people, believed to be members of one family, were killed when the Perodua Alza car they were travelling in collided head-on with an express bus at Km 142.8 Jalan Kuantan-Segamat near Rompin on Saturday.

Pahang Traffic Police chief DSP Mohd Noor Yusof Ali said the accident which occured at 8.15 pm also involved a Perodua Myvi.

He said three of the victims were identified as Azhar Mat Ali, 43, Zaliha Johar, 42, from Kampung Parit Pasir Lama, Pekan Nenas, Johor, and Siti Habibah Kasbon, 43, from Felda Air Tawar 5, Kota Tinggi, Johor.

The identity of three other victims, however, had yet to be identified.

"The accident was believed to have occurred when the Perodua Alza carrying the three men, two women and a girl heading towards Kuantan from Segamat skidded and veered into the opposite lane before colliding head-on with the bus which had no passenger," he told Bernama when contacted here.

At the same time, he said the Perodua Myvi car, which was trailing behind the Perodua Alza could not avoid hitting the vehicle and skidded into the drain beside the road.

"However, the car driver escaped unhurt," he said.
