Selangor government retirees should record the history of their services in the form of memoirs upon retirement, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

He said the experiences of government pensioners who were directly involved in development other than dealing with conflicts or crises were a valuable treasure of knowledge which should not be wasted.

"Such experiences should be published into books to be used as references by the younger generation who are keen to know how Selangor was developed and become among the most developed states," he said at the 2016 Selangor State Administration Appreciation Awards (Anugerah Jasamu Dikenang) (AJD) Dinner here, Wednesday.

Mohamed Azmin drew attention to the fact that several famous figures including former presidents of the United States had published books about their administrative experiences when in the White House to be shared with the public.

During the ceremony, Deputy State Secretary (Development) Datuk Mohamad Roslan Sakiman was among 28 retiring officers who received the ADJ.

Also receiving the award were four officers who had served more than 25 years and 14 officers who were transferred to ministries and federal agencies. - BERNAMA
