PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli has been advised to wait for their turn if he wants petrol prices to be announced according to his whims.

Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hasan Malek said unless the Oppostion is ruling the country, it will have to abide by the Barisan Nasional government’s mechanism in determining petrol and diesel prices.

“He can announce the petrol prices but wait until they are ruling the country. We announced the new price for petrol and diesel based on research and discussions with ministries and other parties. The people also seemed to accept the new prices,” he said when contacted today.

“Let Rafizi do his own calculation and we have our own,” he said commenting on Rafizi’s demand to the government to further reduce the price petrol and diesel.

The government on Wednesday had announced the new price of RON95 to RM1.91 a litre, RON96 at RM2.11 a litre while diesel at RM1.93 a litre.

On another matter, Hassan urged traders to reduce the price of their goods and services with the reduction of petrol prices, effective today.

“When the prices went up, they made noises and had increased the price of items. Now the price of petrol has gone down, they should also reduce their prices,” he said.

He said he will be going to several markets in Kelantan and other areas affected by floods to check on the price of items.
“I want to see myself and conduct random checks,” he added.
