Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) says it is currently facing a tough challenge to restore electricity supply to Kuala Krai due to the rapid currents of Sungai Kelantan in Kampung Raba.

TNB said it was currently in the midst of restoring overhead lines crossing Sungai Kelantan which connected Kuala Krai and Dabong, covering a total of six substations.

Senior Manager (Operations-Region Two) of TNB's Distribution Division, Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid said 51 of the 62 substations still cut off from power in Kelantan were in Kuala Krai.

Ten other substations were located in Gua Musang and one in Jeli.

"Six substations in Kuala Krai were swept away by the water and to install new ones will take some time," he said in a statement here.

He said in Pahang, 33 of the 585 substations affected by floods remained unfixed while only seven have yet to be fixed in Perak.
