In conjunction with the 63rd National Day celebration on Aug 31, Malaysians will have the opportunity to express their concern, care and love for the country through poetry.

Association of Malaysian Poets (Penyair) secretary-general, Tuan Asri Husin who is also the director of the '3rd Semarak Puisi Merdeka Penyair Malaysia' national level programme, said it is open to all Malaysians regardless of age.

"Those who are interested can participate in this programme by uploading videos or live performances of poetry readings, poems or monologues themed patriotism through their respective Facebook or YouTube channels by giving details such name, state, title of the performance with the hashtag #malaysiaprihatin #merdekacovid19," he said in a statement yesterday.

He said anyone can participate in the programme provided the uploaded video is original and has never been broadcast in any media or event.

Tuan Asri said this programme will take place from 12 noon on Aug 30 to 12 noon on Aug 31.

"Entries must only be sent during this period to qualify, participants will receive a digital certificate from the organiser (e-certificate). Make sure the entries are made in public mode," he added.

Twenty best performances for the 10 open categories and 10 categories for school students in terms of presentation and selection of attire will receive awards from the organisers.

Registration/entry closing date is 12 midnight, Aug 29.
