Police have identified the owner of a Perodua Kelisa, trapped under a collapsed exit ramp of the Second Penang Bridge, on the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Highway in Batu Maung.

A police spokesman said police identified the owner as Rohaizad Md Sofar, 43, of Sungai Dua, Gelugor, here, but could not confirm if the victim trapped in the vehicle was him.

"We seek the cooperation of everyone who knew Rohaizad to help identify the victim," he said.

The victim could not be extricated yet and work to move the concrete ramp, which had been cut into small pieces, was being carried out.

In the incident Thursday evening, two sections of the concrete ramp, namely a 180-tonne hard concrete section and a 100-tonne soft concrete section, collapsed on a vehicle.

Three people comprising two foreign workers and a local woman were injured in the incident.

Meanwhile, work to lift the collapsed ramp, which had been cut up, was going on by the rescue team.

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the concrete ramp and metal rods had to be cut into small pieces to facilitate work to remove them.

He said the department would only be able to get to the trapped victim after the cut-up collapsed ramp had been removed.
