The new UMNO Youth vice-chief will be known this coming Wednesday when the party wing will hold re-elections in three divisions.

UMNO Election Committee chairman, Tan Sri Tajol Rosli Ghazali said the re-elections to be held simultaneously, involved the Sabak Bernam, Bachok and Gelang Patah divisions.

He said the decision was made by the committee with the agreement of two of the candidates for the post, Jamawi Jaafar and Khairul Azwan Harun, who are tied at 73 votes for each following the UMNO Youth elections last Saturday.

"At the meeting (with both candidates), the voting at the three divisions were disputed by both sides, but they agreed to a re-election in the three divisions involved to determine the winner (for the post)," he told a press conference, here, today.

Tajol Rosli said the delegates from the three divisions would cast their votes again for the four candidates for the post, Jamawi, Khairul Azwan, Lokman Noor Adam and Mohamad Iruan Zulkefli.

He said the voting would be based on the electoral college system and the results expected to be known on the same day.

UMNO executive secretary, Datuk Abd Rauf Yusoh said the re-election was decided upon to avoid any doubts over the results to be announced.

Jamawi, meanwhile, said he accepted the decision on re-election for the Youth wing in the three divisions with an open heart.

"I have full trust in the Election Committee and will continue to serve and contribute to the party whatever the outcome," he said.

Khairul Azwan said the consensus was reached out of familial spirit in UMNO and in the interest of the party.
He too pledged to continue contributing to the party regardless of the results this Wednesday.
