The mother of a 14-month old son wants the Sultan Ismail Hospital (HSI) to explain why her son's skin condition got worse after receiving treatment at the hospital recently.
Naziah Mat Nasir, 26, said her son, Muhammad Adam Aryan Muhammad Danial, first had eczema on his body when he was one year-old.
However, after getting the protein injection and had a blood infusion at the hospital last March 25, the condition got worst and spread to his whole body, causing the baby to be inactive and crying all the time.
“My son received the protein injection and blood infusion because his blood level was low. After one of the three packets of blood were given to him on March 25, he started showing signs of reaction and his condition became worse after he got the second packet of blood on the following day," she told reporters here on Thursday.
She said her son was allowed to go home on April 7 but no explanation was given by the medical officials at the hospital for the skin condition although a request was made by her.
Looking at the condition of her son, the housewife wanted to return to her village in Alor Setar, Kedah to seek treatment there as she had relatives who could help out.
However, Pasir Gudang People's Complaint Centre representative Syed Othman Syed Abdullah advised her to settle the matter first with the HSI before returning home.
"We are not blaming the hospital. We only want an explanation on the condition of the body and the medical procedures that need to be taken," he said.
He also received, on behalf of Naziah, an explanation from the medical officials, although none would give their cooperation.
Naziah lodged a police report on the matter at the Seri Alam Police Station at 11.57pm on Wednesday, saying that the HSI should take responsibility if anything happened to her son.
Meanwhile, HSI director Dr Arbain Lani when contacted, said the hospital would investigate the matter and contact the family after receiving the medical report.
