Travellers using the East Coast Expressway (LPT2) this week during the National Day and Hari Raya Aidiladha holidays will enjoy a 50 per cent toll rebate offered to Class 1 vehicles.

Concessionaire company Lebuhraya Pantai Timur 2 (LPT2) Sdn Bhd executive director, Datuk Azman Ismail said the offer would be given all day to users of LPT 2, beginning midnight today.

"It is a token of appreciation to highway users in view of the implementation of 100 per cent electronic transactions which LPT2 implemented on Aug 14," he told reporters here.

He said the public needed to pay the normal toll rates and the rebate would be included when their cards were topped-up at selected LPT2 toll plazas or the PLUS Service Centre from Sept 15 to Dec 14.

National Day will be celebrated this Thursday while Hari Raya Aidiladha falls on the following day.

Earlier, Azman presented two patrol vehicles to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) which was represented by its Traffic Enforcement Investigation Department director, SAC Sharul Othman Mansor.

He said the contribution was a token of appreciation to the role of the PDRM in enforcing the law along the highways.

"According to studies on the traffic trend on LPT2, we expect an increase of traffic by 100 per cent during the festive season as compared to normal days," he said.
