JOHOR BAHRU: Perikatan Nasional (PN) will field 41 new faces as its candidates in the Johor state election on March 12, PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said today.

According to him, PN, which intends to contest all 56 seats in this election, will only retain 15 candidates who stood in the previous election.

There are 33 candidates from Bersatu, PAS (15) and Gerakan (eight), and 50 are men with the rest are women.

"The youngest is 31...so there are more candidates in that age gropu compared to others. I view this as a strong team, with experience and qualifications," he said in a media conference after a ceremony introducting PN candidates for the Johor state election here today.

Muhyiddin, who is also Bersatu president, also said that the PN candidates were from various backgrounds, including entrepreneurs, businessmen, former teachers, lecturers, lawyers, accountants and medical practitioners.
