The Edge publisher Ho Kay Tat and The Malaysian Insider chief executive officer Jahabar Sadiq have been released on police bail today after being detained at the Dang Wangi Police Station since Tuesday.
The matter was confirmed by Kuala Lumpur CID Chief Senior Asst Comm Zainuddin Ahmad.
"Yes (they have been released), and they're statements are being recorded... you can say they have been released," he told Astro AWANI.
Earlier, their lawyer Syahredzan Johan tweeted that police would not be seeking a remand order for Ho and Jahabar.
On Monday, Ho and Jahabar were arrested by the police, believed to be over an article published by the news portal last week.
According to Syahredzan, the two were arrested under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act and Section 4 of the Sedition Act.
Before that, TMI managing editor Lionel Morais, features and analysis editor Zulkifli Sulong and Bahasa news editor Amin Iskandar were also arrested over the same article.
The trio were released on Tuesday after the magistrate’s court denied a remand order for them.
