The Malaysian security forces has arrested three more people who are believed to have links with the Sulu terrorists who invaded East Sabah on Feb 9.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib said the arrests were made yesterday under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma).

Hamza said the arrests were made outside of Lahad Datu and the trio were not armed.

With this, he said the total number of those detained under the act is now 107.

“The arrests made under other Acts is 243 people so far.

“A total of 28 dead Sulu gunmen’s bodies have been brought out of the battle area and a total of 62 Sulu gunmen have been shot dead,” he said at a press conference in Felda Sahabat today.

Hamza also said four gunbattles between the Sulu gunmen and the security forces took place on Monday.

“The gun battles occurred between 8.05am to 5.30pm but it was not continuous. Both parties were not harmed in the battles,” he said.

He also said the flushing and mopping exercises in Kampung Tanjung Batu will be continued and is expected to be completed by today.
