Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the government remained committed in fighting any form of terrorism and racial attitude as well as religious extremism.

He said such efforts were important to preserve peace, harmony and security in the country.

"Recently, we were jolted by various news on terrorist attacks in Jakarta, Istanbul and Paris which killed innocent members of the public.

"I wish to emphasise that Malaysia will remain committed in going all out against any form of terrorism as well as racialism and extremist religious sentiments.

"This is important to preserve peace, harmony and security in the country," he said in his Facebook entry, today.

On Thursday, seven people -- five terrorists and two members of the public -- were confirmed killed in a terrorist attack incident in Jakarta.

Following the incident, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the Royal Malaysia Police had raised the country's security alert warning to the highest level to avoid such incidents from occurring in Malaysia.
