The government's decision to implement the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) is based on the win-win situation which is the key aspect, said Deputy Finance Minister I Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri.

In a statement last night, he said the aspect was to strike a balance between protecting the interests of the people and safeguarding the interests of the country as a whole.

“Decision this important was also made based on the consensus of the country’s highest body namely the federal Cabinet through collective decision and usually guided by the professional opinions of various agencies.

“In the case of containing the COVID-19 pandemic, it is usually guided by the Ministry of Health as the national health regulator and the decision also takes into account the input from international health organisations such as the World Health Organisation (WHO)," the Kudat MP said.

On Friday (May 1), Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced the reopening of almost all sectors of the economy and business activities beginning today.
