KUALA LUMPUR: Another 2,092 new daily COVID-19 infections were reported in Malaysia as of midnight Monday, taking the total cumulative cases to 4,528,390.

According to the Ministry of Health (MOH), the cases registered yesterday were all local transmissions.

Active cases in the country currently stood at 22,607.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Selangor continues to record the highest daily in cases with a total of 1,251 reported yesterday, followed by Kuala Lumpur (262) and Penang (105). 

Other states that reported two-digit in cases were Perak (74), Sabah (72), Johor (68), Putrajaya (55), Kedah (50), Malacca (46), Kelantan (25), Sarawak (25), Negeri Sembilan (24), Terengganu (19) and Pahang (12).

Perlis recorded three cases and Labuan had one. 

According to the COVIDNOW portal, another four COVID-related deaths were reported yesterday, with one declared as brought-in- dead (BID).

A total of 35,716 of the population have lost their lives to the virus since the start of the pandemic in March 2020. 

Meanwhile, MOH reported 978 COVID-19 patients who are hospitalised of whom 24 are in the ICU.

As of yesterday, Malaysia has administered a total of 6,588 COVID-19 vaccines, of which 288 individuals  received the first dose, while 5,085 of the population received their second dose and 1,215 of them have got the booster jabs.
