PUTRAJAYA:Malaysia recorded a total of 1,032 new COVID-19 cases within 24 hours bringing the total number of positive cases to 35,425 cases.

Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said, out of that figure, there were three cases of imports cases who got infected from abroad.

"All import cases involve non-citizens who arrived from India, Singapore, and the Philippines.

"There are currently 10,339 cases of active cases with COVID-19 infection," he said during a press conference on Wednesday.

Sabah still recorded the highest contagion case with an increase of 646 cases while the Klang Valley recorded an increase of 231 cases.

The MOH is saddened to announce that there has been an increase of eight new deaths due to COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 271.

To date, a total of 82 cases are receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and of that number, 27 cases require respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, the number of cases recovered from COVID-19 increased by 820 cases bringing the total number of recovered cases to 24,815 cases.
