Participants of the opposition's rally in the federal capital on Saturday have been reminded to exercise their freedom to protest in a responsible manner, in accordance with the Peaceful Assembly Act.

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman said the participants should be mindful of other citizens, especially those earning a livelihood in the area where the assembly was permitted to take place.

"You can swing your umbrella in the park in the manner you like. But the moment it hits other people, your freedom ceases because you must also respect other people's freedom.

"So, if you demonstrate in the streets, what about those hawkers and taxi drivers (earning a livelihood)? Their livelihood is going to be affected," he told reporters after attending a dinner, in conjunction with the opening of Romania's Honorary Consulate Office on Friday night.
