The 44-year-old man was arrested at a coffee shop in Sri Petaling at 9pm yesterday after police received a tip-off from the public.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah said the police believed the taxi driver had taken the shooter from the scene after the incident.
“We believe the suspect is a regular passenger of the taxi driver and after the incident, the driver had dropped the suspect at Jalan Alor,” Ku told reporters at Kuala Lumpur Police Headquarters this morning.
The taxi driver has been remanded for seven days until August 6.
From the CCTV recording, police have also identified a man they believe can assist them with the incident.
Earlier, eyewitnesses in the area claimed that three men had fired the shots at Hussain, but after thorough investigation, the police have managed to narrow down only one suspect involved in the shootout.
The man has been identified as Sei Ngan Chai@Chen, who is believed to be in his 30s.
“The man is always on the move and roams around Taman Maluri area. But we can’t positively state that he is a contract killer or an assassin,” he said.
