Selangor MCA Liaison Committee Deputy Chairman, Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai said Pakatan Rakyat (PR) should not make lame excuses to 'cover up its attempt to resolve PKR's power struggle'.

“It is irresponsible for Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders to give excuses that the deliberately created by-election in Kajang is meant for PR's common interest and strengthening the coalition in serving Selangorians," stated Donald in a statement today.

He added that the by-election was seen as a waste of public fund as well as creating collateral damage to the people.

“It is ridiculous and childish for Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim to claim that the by-election will help to upgrade the performance of the PR-led State Government and strengthen the foundation of PR in the state so that it will be easier for PR to capture Putrajaya in future,” he said.

Donald added, the threats by PKR and PR to all Selagorians with a potential crisis on politics, economy and education in the state, is an excuse to prevent the people's disappointment towards the party.

“If the resignation of the Kajang State Assemblyman will help to improve the unity of PR and the betterment of Selangor, I hope that Selangor PR elected representatives will resign en masse and hold the State Election for the sake of a better future in Selangor.

"The voters in Kajang are wise, since the then State Assemblyman has not contributed to the constituency nor served the people but decided to sacrifice for his party leaders instead of the people, the voters must teach such types of elected representative a lesson in this coming by-election and that they should not continue to vote for PR that prioritizes political interest ahead of the electorate,” he added.

The Election Commision (EC) had announced March 11 and 23 as the nomination and polling days respectively for the Kajang by-election in Selangor.

Advance voting for police and military personnel meanwhile has been set on March 19.

The by-election is scheduled following the resignation of Kajang assemblyman, Lee Chin Cheh.

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has named Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as its candidate for the vacant seat.

Previously, PKR deputy president, Mohamed Azmin was reported to have told reporters that the PKR had planned Lee’s resignation and that the by-election which will follow suit, is expected to strengthen the state’s administration.
