A total of 496 Malaysian students have been evacuated from Sana'a, Hodaidah, Aden and Hadramawt in Yemen.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry in a statement here said, 153 of the students were from Sana'a and Hodaidah, Aden (67 students) and Hadramawt (276 students).

The statement said nationals from other ASEAN countries were also included in the evacuation exercises conducted by the ministry in collaboration with the National Security Council (MKN), Ministry of Defence and relevant agencies.

They include 85 Indonesians; Cambodian (nine); Singaporeans (eight); Thais (three) and Vietnamese (two).

"In the coming days, additional evacuation exercises will be carried out," it said.

On Tuesday, a total of 67 Malaysians were evacuated by sea from Aden to the port of Djibouti, from where they were flown to Jeddah by a Royal Malaysian Air Force C130 aircraft.

They are expected to arrive in Kuala Lumpur by commercial flights in due course.
