Enforcement authorities rounded up 347 illegal immigrants in Cameron Highlands from Nov 22 till last night.

They were rounded up in an integrated operation mounted by the Police and Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM).

Cameron Highlands police chief, DSP Wan Zahari Wan Busu said of those nabbed 127 were Indonesians, Bangladesh (77), Myanmar (66), Nepalese (50), Indians (12), Cambodians (six), Pakistanis (five) and four Sri Lankans.

The crackdown launched to weed out illegal immigrants in the highlands would be further intensified until there were zero illegals there, he told Bernama after heading an anti-illegal immigrants operation in Brinchang and Kuala Terla here yesterday.

The crackdown was launched following a flood disaster which claimed five lives in the environmentally sensitive highlands.
