Pakatan Harapan will hold a meeting today to find a suitable person to replace Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua in the debate with 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) president Arul Kanda Kandasamy.

The meeting is scheduled to be held at 2.30pm, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said.

Lim said if Pua goes on with the debate as earlier planned, he might lose his position as the DAP representative in the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

"Without him, DAP will lose one PAC member and I will not allow that to happen," he said at Parliament lobby today.

Lim said Parti Keadilan Rakyat, DAP and Parti Amanah Negara (AMANAH) will submit their proposals at the meeting today.

Lim said the coalition will announce the name later today or tomorrow.

At the Dewan Rakyat proceedings on Tuesday, Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia ruled that the debate on 1MDB can only proceed if Pua steps down as a member of the PAC.

In addition, he said Arul Kanda cannot appear as a witness before the PAC in its probe into 1MDB if he wants to debate Pua.
